EAGLE BOARD OF REVIEW PANEL

The District Committee for the Roughrider District of the Northern Lights Council of the Boy Scouts of America is developing a list of Community leaders and current or past Scouters who would be willing to be included on a list of persons available to occasionally serve on an Eagle Board of Review.  MAY WE INCLUDE YOUR NAME AS ONE WHO WOULD BE WILLING TO OCCASIONALLY SERVE ON AN EAGLE BOARD OF REVIEW?

The Eagle Board of Review is an important function in the process of reviewing the application of a Boy Scout to receive the Eagle award, the highest rank in Boy Scouts.  The purpose is to serve as one of the final screening processes to help assure that the applicant is "Eagle Material."

The Board of Review for an Eagle candidate is composed of at least three but not more than six members. These members do not have to be registered in Scouting, but they must have an understanding of the importance and purpose of the Eagle Board of Review. The contents of the Board of Review are confidential and the proceedings are not to be disclosed to any person who is not a member of the Board of Review.

An Eagle Board of Review usually takes about one and a half to two (1½- 2) hours.  No work is required of Board of Review members either before or after the meeting of the Eagle Board of Review, except perhaps to consider what types of questions you might ask to assure yourself that the applicant is "Eagle Material."

If you would be willing to occasionally serve in this important capacity, please send an e-mail indicating that willingness and we'll put you on the list.

If you think you would like to learn more about the process before making a commitment, you might wish to "try it out".  We regularly have a need for several persons to serve on Boards of review.  You could serve on this panel and decide if this is something you might like to do.

In any event.  Thank you for your consideration.  Hopefully you will "answer the call."
