EAGLE SCOUT LEADERSHIP SERVICE PROJECT IDEAS

Below are several projects that have been completed within the Roughrider District.

They have been randomly selected from the large number of projects completed.

If your project does not appear on this list, it is not a reflection of its quality,

just the ‘luck of the draw’.

REMEMBER: The difference between a service project and an "Eagle Scout Leadership Project" is the LEADERSHIP.

Set up used oil recycling collection areas.

Construct play cube, rocking boat, and Lincoln Logs for use by an Early Childhood Center.

Construct nature trails and develop brochures to educate people at the various stops.

Conduct a city-wide handicapped parking survey and provide the results and recommendations to the city and individual businesses, along with the guidelines they should be following.

Provide education on organ donor awareness and supply forms and opportunity to sign up. This Eagle candidate and his assistants visited numerous civic organization and club meetings to promote organ donation.

During a water shortage, an Eagle candidate organized the purchase and distribution of shower head water restrictors and information on water conservation.

Construct furniture for a church nursery.

Construct play structures for a church nursery.

Construct jungle gym and playhouse for a community day care center.

Design and build games for the physically challenged participants at Camp Re-Creation (a camp similar to summer camp).

Built welcome signs at the entrances to the city.

Refurbished city shooting range.

Repair vandalism to and increase security at the local trap club’s range building.

Build outdoor chairs and planters at a local nursing home.

Replace signs at the entrances to public areas such as a Wildlife Management Area and the recreation area surrounding a lake.

Landscape a traffic island at the local high school.

Design, build, and distribute pheasant feeders.

Design and develop a new city park on an empty lot.

Construct a concrete pad and wooden enclosure for the garbage dumpsters at a facility serving the handicapped.

Design and build playground equipment at a city park.

Landscaping and constructing a rest area along a bike/walking trail.

Cleaning and painting 55-gallon drums for use as garbage cans at the county fairgrounds.

Marking all city fire hydrants with a color code to enable the city fire department to easily distinguish available water flow.

The Roughrider District Advancement Committee hopes the above list will be helpful to those Life Scouts searching for an Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project. Please read the requirement in your Boy Scout Handbook carefully, as we are bound to judge your project proposal according to that requirement.

Good Luck with your Service Project!
